I've always liked the stark outlines of desert landscapes, with lots of shadows and highlights. They also tend to have beautiful combinations red/orange/brown colors. The first picture also incorporates an natural arch (I also like the symbolism or arches/gates/doors).
Lastly the path through the cherry trees is an archetypal "path through the trees" kind of shot. Again, another highly symbolic theme, which would make a great background.
